Kenn Rashad

Kenn Rashad is a media entrepreneur and journalist who built his career amplifying HBCU stories. He founded HBCU Sports in 1997—long before most outlets paid attention to Black college athletics—and still runs it today as its publisher and editor. Through his parent company, Rashad Media, he continues to spotlight the athletes, coaches, and institutions that make up the HBCU experience.

A proud Grambling State alum with a Mass Communications degree, Kenn’s passion for sports and storytelling took root in his hometown of Inglewood, California. Early on, he noticed how often mainstream media skipped over HBCUs, so he created a space that wouldn’t. More than two decades later, HBCU Sports stands as the longest‑running digital platform dedicated solely to HBCU athletics coverage, trusted for its news, analysis and commentary.

Kenn has watched generations of HBCU athletes prove their talent on and off the field, and his mission remains the same: use the power of sports to unite communities and elevate the HBCU institutions that shape leaders today and tomorrow.
