Kenn Rashad

Kenn Rashad is a journalist, author, and media entrepreneur who built his career amplifying HBCU stories. He is the founding publisher and editor of HBCU Sports, the longest-running digital media platform solely dedicated to covering Black college athletics. Since launching the site in 1997, well before mainstream outlets paid attention to HBCU sports, he has continued to serve as its publisher and editor.

Kenn is shaping a media ecosystem that honors both the builders of today and the institutions that shaped them. On The Kenn Rashad Show, he digs into the journeys of entrepreneurs of color who are creating opportunity through vision, discipline, and ownership. HBCU Titans with Kenn Rashad highlights the leaders whose rise began on Black college campuses, including executives, innovators, and culture shapers whose careers bear the imprint of the HBCU experience. Together, these platforms work toward one goal: to protect our narratives, elevate our achievers, and capture the impact of Black excellence as it unfolds.

In 2025, Kenn released his debut book, HBCU Sports 101: A Guide to Understanding Black College Athletics, a foundational resource that celebrates the legacy, culture, and modern impact of HBCU sports. The book reflects his lifelong mission: to preserve the stories that shaped the past while educating and empowering future generations.

A proud Grambling State University alum with a degree in Mass Communications, Kenn’s passion for sports and storytelling took root in his hometown of Inglewood, California. After witnessing how often the media overlooked HBCUs, he set out to create a space that wouldn’t. More than two decades later, HBCU Sports remains a trusted voice for news, analysis, and commentary across the HBCU landscape.

Kenn has watched generations of HBCU athletes prove their talent on and off the field. His mission remains the same: to use the power of sports journalism, authorship, and media to unite communities and elevate the institutions that shape Black excellence.
